HTTPS is now become common protocol these days but HTTPS was created by Netscape communication in 1994. HTTPS is also called HTTP over TLS or HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol ) S (Secure) . Basically it provides a bidirectional encryption between client and server which protects against the man man-in-middle-attacks.

Historically the HTTPS connections were primarly used for Payment transactions on the web. As on october 3, 2015 30.1% of the internet and almost 1,43,909 website have securly implemented the HTTPS.

Difference between HTTP and HTTPS 

HTTP URL's begin with "http://" and uses the port 80 by default while HTTPS implemented URl's begin with "https://" and uses the port 443 by default.


HTTP connection is not encrypted and is vulnerable to man-in-middle-attacks., which can let attackers gain access to website accounts and sensitive information, and modify webpages to inject malware or advertisements. HTTPS is designed to withstand such attacks and is considered secure against them (with the exception of older, deprecated versions of SSL).

How to enable HTTPS for Blogspot Domain ?

Since 2008 google is working on encrypting the connection between users and its servers . Over the years they made their most of product like Search, Gmail , Drive encrypted bydefault .Recently they introduced HTTPS for blogger but is still available for .blogspot domains not for custom domains . Users using custom domain will have to wait for the availbility whenever this feature come to custom domain i going to share it with everyone.

So how to enable HTTPS for blogspot ?

1. Open your Bloggers Dashboard.
2. Go to Setting > Basics> HTTPS availibility
3.Change This to Yes . And here you go.

Once enabled, your blog will become accessible over both HTTP and HTTPS connections. Blogspot authors should be aware that if they choose to encrypt at this time, some of the current functionality of their blog may not work over HTTPS. This can be a result of template, gadgets, and blog post content, and is often caused by mixed content errors, some of which may be fixable by the author themselves.

Does HTTPS effect Google Search Engine Ranking ?

Security is top priority for Google. For these reasons they are running tests taking into account whether sites use secure, encrypted connections as a signal in their search ranking algorithms.For now this effect only 1% of the global search engine but now its the time for webmaster to switch from HTTP to HTTPS.
