On an altitude of 2850 Meters in district Mandi of Himachal Pradesh Shikari Devi Temple still remains a mystery to people. Shikari Devi temple has no roof and it is said that not even a drop of snowfall in the temple and this is the whole mystery.







Taking a look at history it is said that "Markandeya Rishi" Meditated here for years. Delighted by his penance Mata Durga appeared here in "Shaki Roop". During the hibernation period of the Pandavas, they built the temple here.


The Pandavas also meditated here for years. Their austerity pleased Mata Durga and she blessed Pandavas with a victory against the Kauravas in war.







After installing the stone statue of the Mata Durga Pandavas left to Kurukshetra. Plenty of snow falls every year but near the statue of Mata Durga Snow never lasts.

How Shikari Devi Temple Got Named ?

Because the whole area was full of wildlife , poachers often started coming here. Hunter (Shikari) started praying for Mata Durga for success in hunting and they received success after that the temple was named Shikari Devi.



However, Most Surprising thing about the temple is that many times roof planting of the temple began but due to the strength of Mata Durga roof could not stand. If you are planning to visit Shikari Devi temple the best time is peak summer.
